Fleas are parasitic pests that feed off of blood. Fleas need to feed on blood in order to reproduce. An infestation of fleas in the house can number in the thousands or more! Typically dogs, cats, and other animals are the hosts, but fleas on humans are also common during an infestation. Fleas take advantage of a number of harbouring locations in your home like cracks and crevices in flooring, rugs, baseboards and your pets bedding. Fleas will sometime settle in human hair and very quickly start to cause irritations and soreness. Fleas can also be responsible for transmitting certain diseases; endemic typhus, tularemia, and many more that are harmful to humans. Fleas are also capable of jumping vertical 7 inches and horizontally 13 inches and thrive in higher temperatures but can survive in temperatures from 70 to 90 degrees. It is important to get rid of fleas in a home and on the hosts in an efficient manner to decrease likelihood of disease transmission.
