Bat Control, Bat removal & Bat Relocation Services

What most people don't realize is that bats are mammals and can play an important role in the local ecosystem. Most species of bats are insectivores (70%), three species consume blood, and the remaining species feed off of fruits. Here in Ontario we have three species of bat; Silver Haired Bat, Big Brown Bat, and Little Brown Bat. While bats live outdoors there are instances when bat control specialists are called in to remove bats in a house or business.

Being nocturnal, bats use echolocation to hunt their prey at night. Bats emit their calls into the environment and listen as the echo travels off of the objects around them. Echolocation helps bats pinpoint their prey in the dark. Bats are actually the only mammals capable of self-sustained flight. Since bats are only active at night, professional bat removal is necessary when bats have begun to live in a home or business. Bats are dangerous to humans as they are hosts to parasites, bugs, and rabies. Their guano can also cause lung infections as it builds up. Rabies can be fatal to humans and animals.

Countermeasures

  • Bat control exclusion techniques
  • Installation of bat control one way doors
  • Bat removal and bat waste removal

Recommendations

  • Depending on the time of year and location in the region will determine what bat control, bat removal and/or bat exclusion techniques can be implemented. It is important to understand what bats are doing at different times of the year to implement any humane bat control, bat removal and/or bat exclusion program.
  • It is also important to realize bats can pose some serious health risks, so if you find an injured bat, bat colony and/or bat guano on your property call a trained bat control specialist before attempting any bat control, bat removal, bat relocation and/or bat guano removal.
